March Haul

These are the polishes that I got this month.  My budget has been tight so I haven't been able to get all the polishes that I've wanted. Then again, I really shouldn't be buying any polish, but lets be real, I'm addicted. LOL.

Well here they are:

Left to Right -
Nicole by OPI A Million Sparkles, Revlon Smoldering, Revlon Colorstay Rain Forest, Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Green with Envy, and Mellow Yellow.

Left to right -
Milani Jewel FX Hot Pink,  One Coat Glitter Red Sparkle, Jewel FX Gold, Sail Away

Inglot 202, Gosh Purple Heart

This came in the mail yesterday. Its a collaboration between TOMS and Essie.  The polish was created to help raise awareness for TOMS's One Day Without Shoes on April 10th.  Participate in One Day without shoes, by going sans shoes all day to create awareness of how important shoes are for those who don't have shoes.

Essie Barefoot in Blue

I also received a Maven box this month.

Julep Mandy and Susie

Did you get any new polishes this month? And will you be participating in TOMS One Day Without Shoes?

Thanks for reading!

Julep Mandy

Hey everyone!

Yesterday, I painted my nails with Julep Mandy.  It came in my Maven box and I absolutely loved it.  It's a coral pink creme, and depending on the lighting, it looks more orange or pink.  Its so bright and cheery, making it perfect for spring.

Mandy's application was really good, no pooling or dragging. Pictured is only 2 coats without topcoat. Isn't it gorgeous.  Its the pefect mixture of Pink and Orange.

Thanks for stopping by, and stay tuned for my March Haul which I should be posting later on today.

April Julep Maven Box - Classic With a Twist

Its me again!

I decided to do a quick post of my April Julep Maven box.  This month, I switched my Boho Glam box for the Classic with a Twist.  I just got it today, which is earlier than I expected.

This month's box came with the cutest packaging.  It was packed in a pink gift bag among some grass filling for Easter.  The box also contained chocolate eggs which was a sweet touch.

This is what you see when you first open up your box.

Included in the box was The Best Pedi Creme Ever!, Mandy, Susie, and toe separators.

Closer shot of Mandy, and Susie.
Mandy is a coral pink creme, and Susie is a mint green creme.

Closer shot of The Best Pedi Creme Ever!
What a name. The card that came with it says: Exfoliates with alpha hydroxy acids, hydrates  with shea butter and coconut oil, nourishes with vitamin E. Apply nightly for noticeable results in just one to two uses.

I'll eventually post swatches of the polishes and a review of the pedi creme.
Are you subscribed to Julep Maven? Which box did you get?

Zoya Uli

Hello!

Today I'd like to share a swatch of Zoya Uli.  I think this may have been one of my first Zoya polishes. This is a peachy beige nude with golden shimmer.  The golden shimmer gives this nude, almost mannequin hands, some oomph.  I absolutely love this color, but always pass it up for brighter colors.

I chose this color to wear because I have an internship interview tomorrow.  I want to look as professional as possible, and I think this is a very work appropriate color.  It makes me feel very grown up.

Like most Zoya polishes, this applied like a dream.  Shown is 3 coats but you could get away with 2 thicker coats.  The drying time was very good; I didn't have to wait at all in between coats.

Hopefully I do well on my interview tomorrow. I'm super nervous. Do you have any interviewing tips to share? Feel free to leave it in my comments.

Rainbow Gradient

Hey guys!

Today I have rainbow gradient nails to share with you.  The weathers been pretty gloomy and rainy, and so I decided to cheer up my nails with some color. I love the way these turned out. :)

I used a sponge and 9 different polishes, not including base and top coat.  I painted the polish directly onto the sponge and dabbed the color onto my nails (after I had applied basecoat) to create the gradient.  I topped everything off with a holographic glitter to smooth things over and of course top coat.

Now to the pictures:

The thumb is supposed to be a gradient from red to orange, but it didn't show up too well.  I didn't list any of the colors I used this time, but if you're curious about a color let me know in the comments and I'd be happy to tell you.

I think I may stamp over these later today... We'll see. Hope you liked my nails as much as I did.

Mermaid Nails

Hi everyone!

So today I have nails I did way before I started this blog.  I want to say I did them last summer.  I'm not sure though, I just happened to still have the picture on my phone and wanted to share. I have no idea what polishes I used.  I did look up the stamp plate I used though.  Its plate m72 from one of the sets from the Born Pretty Store.

I hope you liked my nails. Thanks for stopping by!

Gosh Purple Heart

I'm back from my trip to Vegas!

I had so much fun and didn't want to come back home.  Luckily I got to see a close friend of mine while I was out there.  I hadn't seen her in 8 years! I also went and saw Zumanity and Absinthe, which were amazing!

While there, I picked up TWO polishes! That took some will power, but I didn't want to spend too much money. The two polishes I picked up were from brands I couldn't buy from home.  I bought Gosh Purple Heart and Inglot 202.

Today I am going to show you Gosh Purple Heart which is a purple green duochrome.  In the bottle it looks amazing, but unfortunatly it doesn't translate to the nail very well.  The shift is there, just not as intense as the bottle.

This polish was difficult to photograph. In the last picture you can really see the green shift.  This polish applied great, and only needed two coats.

Have you visited Vegas? If so, what was the highlight of your trip?

Lace Nails

Hey everyone!
Everybody probably has already seen nails like this before, but I decided to do lace nails for Vegas.  I had other ideas in mind, but I was too busy packing and working so I didn't get around to it.
I painted my nails with 2 coats of Zoya Jules, a taupe with gold shimmer, and stamped with Wet N Wild Black Creme and plate Konad m57.
Warning: my pictures aren't that great. Sorry.

I hope my nails don't chip in Vegas.  I don't think I could handle that, haha. I may even go out in search of new polishes so I can't paint them there.

Well thanks for reading, I'll see you soon!

St. Patty's Day Nails

Hello everyone!
I decided to do my St. Patty's Day nails early because I'm going to be doing my Vegas nails on Saturday! I leave on Sunday for Las Vegas! I'm so excited. Hopefully I'll be able to post my nails before I go.

Anyways, my St. Patty's Day nails are pretty plain.  I used Sinful Colors Envy, and Milani Jewel FX Gold.
I loved that Milani Jewel FX Gold kind of looked like gold coins!

This was taken indoors.

This was taken outdoors.

Both pictures aren't really color accurate for Envy.  I would say that Envy is somewhere between my two pictures.  The Gold in the second picture is fairly accurate even though there is a huge glare.

I didn't have any problems with Envy and used 2 coats.  The Jewel FX is 3 coats.  I had to use a huge drop of polish and spread it out, but it didn't give me too much trouble.

Thanks for stopping by! :)

Revlon Smoldering

Today I have swatches of Revlon 370 Smoldering.  Smoldering is a sparkly, silvery green duochrome that flashes purplish pink.  This polish was impossible for me to photograph though.  Smoldering definitely looks better in person than in my pictures.

Smoldering is a little bit frosty and can leave brushstrokes, that's why my thumb isn't in any of the pictures.  Other than that, the polish applied really well.  I used 3 coats, but you can get away with two if your more careful than I was.

Spring Nail Art Contest

For my first nail art post, I'm going to show you my entry for a Spring nail art stamping contest over at Enamel Girl's. The theme for the contest is Spring and there must be some sort of stamping included.
For my entry I decided to do a pastel gradient with purple flowers.

For the gradient I used Icings Tickled Pink, Icings unnamed lavender, and Zoya Kristen. On top of that I added a coat of Essie Pure Pearlfection.  I stamped the flower design from plate BM-205 with Kleancolor Metallic Purple.
I hope you like it!

By the way, please feel free to leave me tips, hints, and suggestions about my blog in my comments.

Hi, I'm Helen!

Hi everyone!
I'm new to this whole blogging thing.  I decided to take the plunge into blogging after months of stalking other blogs. A few of the blogs that inspired me to start my own are ScrangieEnamel Girl, and Rebecca Likes Nails
My nail polish obsession started about a year ago after stumbling onto a nail blog, can't remember which one though. I plan on posting swatches, my attempt at nail art, and other miscellaneous things I'd like to share with everyone.  I can't wait to get to know other bloggers and to share my obsession with you!
